Linkam

The system is ideal for applications which require the sample to be sheared and heated simultaneously whilst under microsopic observation. The system comprises of two highly polished quartz windows which are parallel to within 2 mm. The 55mm bottom window is attached to a metal disc which rotates under the control of a stepper motor. The top window is bevelled to aid clamping and to ensure it does not move as the bottom window rotates against it. Both windows are in close thermal contact with silver block heaters whose temperatures can be independently displayed and controlled to within +/-0.2C.
